How I Attended The VMA's For Free!

Since the VMA's happened yesterday it had me thinking back to the time I was in attendance two years ago. I sat literally among some of the most famous stars and enjoyed the show from front row seats. It was all completely free I didn't even have to spend a penny. How did I do this you might be wondering? I signed up to be a seat filler!
It was as easy as signing up on a safe website, receiving an email, and the next thing you know I was sitting 3 seats down from Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. Since then I've attended the Peoples Choice Awards, and Americas Got Talent. I thought I'd use this post to talk about my experiences and how you too can experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.
There are two sites I frequently check to see if tickets to cool shows are available. My Favorite one is called 1iota and they offer tickets to a lot of shows you may have heard of like The Voice, Ridiculousness, and The Tonight Show. This is the site that has tickets each year to the VMA's. I really enjoy this site because if you follow them on youtube they let you know when special show tickets will be available so you can sign up and get tickets before they're gone.
My experience with 1iota was very good. I found out when tickets for the 2015 VMA's would be available and the second they were I applied for a ticket to be a seat filler. The one down side to this option is you can only apply for one ticket at a time. This means your friends or family may apply and not receive tickets even if you do. I went alone to the VMA's but luckily so did a lot of other people and I made friends in line. They have other options for tickets like the pit fans you see standing up at the stage and red carpet viewing tickets. These tickets you can try to get more then one every request if you're not up for going solo.
That brings me to the experience the day of the show. They tell you to get there a couple hours before the show even starts. I was the first person in the seat filler line to arrive because I am always early every time I go anywhere. After a while the line was super long and there was probably over 50 seat fillers waiting. They had seats outside for us all lined up and to wait because believe me there was a lot of waiting. Fun fact thats actually not so fun you can't have your phone with you. 1iota did not allow us to take our phones into the show so the hours we sat and waited we did not have them.
After the hours of waiting they finally took us to go through security and into the venue. They sat us in a corner of the venue with an obstructed view and said they would pick people to fill the open seats mixed with celebrities as needed. They also tell you not to bug the people you sit next to just act like another guest watching the show. Heres where this experience gets a little crazy. They picked me to head out with the first group and I sat down next to Kat Graham from the Vampire Diaries! I was freaking out but I kept it cool. I was sitting behind someone who created the Moon Man because one second Miley Cyrus was talking about him the next second the camera was on him and there I was right behind him clapping on national TV! After that I realized I was seated in Kelly Osbournes seat because she arrived and asked me if I could get it up.

As I was walking back to the seat filler area I had an awkward this way that way experience with Austin Butler and it was awesome! The one thing I will say I learned from my experience is to be aggressive and ask for what you want. I was very persistent with the people who were in charge of us and kept asking if I could be sent out again. Where other people weren't as vocal and unfortunately stayed in those same obstructed view seats the whole show.
So be aggressive be, be aggressive! You won't regret it I promise because I was sent out again and this time I sat in the Kardashian's front row seats once they left after that whole Kanye weird speech. Thats when I looked to my right and 3 seats down from me was Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. Im going to be honest, I freaked out, Im a typical girl and I really really love them! It was so cool I tried to wave to Selena but I think she was zoned out cause she didn't move. Oh well it was still amazing! That was my experience with being a seat filler for 1iota at the VMA's. I would 100% recommend it and I would do it again in a heart beat.

Another site I use is called On-Camera Audience. My mom and I used this site to get free tickets to Americas Got Talent filming. We even got as lucky to have been seated in the row right next to the judges! The seats where amazing! This process was way more laid back and there was not even close to as much waiting. However, it was not as fun as attending an award show in my opinion because it wasn't as high energy and there were way more breaks of nothing going on because it wasn't live. It was still cool and I would recommend it as well.
Those are my experiences and tips for being a seat filler. I definitely recommend this for locals and also if you're just visiting California!
I am hoping to one day receive tickets to The Ellen show so maybe I will be able to talk about that eventually.
